In the third quarter of 2024, the top social networking apps in Ireland showed diverse performance trends across downloads, revenue, and weekly active users, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Threads saw a steady increase in downloads, starting from around 11.5K in early July and peaking at approximately 17K by the end of September. The app also experienced a consistent growth in weekly active users, rising from 79K to over 115K during the same period.

For WhatsApp Messenger, download numbers fluctuated slightly, beginning at 7.7K at the start of the quarter and tapering off to about 6.1K by the end of September. Despite this, weekly active users remained robust, hovering around 3.1M to 3.2M throughout the quarter.

Telegram Messenger showed a mixed performance. Revenue peaked significantly at $23K in early August before stabilizing around $5K in September. Downloads varied, starting at 6.5K and decreasing to 4.9K by the quarter's end. Weekly active users maintained a relatively stable trend, slightly increasing from 161K to 162K.

Facebook experienced moderate revenue growth, beginning at $4.1K and reaching $5.5K by the end of the quarter. The app's downloads remained mostly stable, with a slight uptick from 5.6K to 5.1K. Weekly active users showed a gradual decline, moving from 1.7M to approximately 1.66M.

Lastly, OmeTV – Video Chat Alternative had a noticeable drop in downloads, starting at 2.8K and falling to 1.2K by the end of September. Revenue showed minor fluctuations, peaking at $2.8K in late July and settling around $2.3K by the quarter's close. Weekly active users decreased from 12K to about 11K by the end of the quarter.
